Stevie Johnson eyes Week 13 return

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stevie Johnson says he expects to play in the team's next game on Dec. 1, following its bye week.

"I'll definitely be suited up," Johnson said Tuesday. "I think I'll be much better than what I was the past week. So I'm optimistic about it."

Johnson missed Sunday's 37-14 win over the New York Jets with a groin injury. The Bills (4-7) are off this weekend before returning to action in Week 13 against the Atlanta Falcons.

Johnson has dealt with several injuries this season, including a lower-back injury that kept him out of a Week 6 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. He said Tuesday that the Bills' bye week is coming at the right time for him to recover.

"With my situation, it's definitely a good time for the bye week," he said. "It will give me another week to try to strengthen my core and get these little nagging injuries out of the way. So hopefully I can come back and make it a strong push for these next five [games]."

Bills coach Doug Marrone said Monday that he also thinks rookie receiver Robert Woods, who has missed the last two games with an ankle injury, will return to the field after the bye week.
