Desmond Bryant out for season
Bryant has dealt with the issue the past two years. He left the Browns' win over Buffalo on Oct. 3 and was taken to the Cleveland Clinic with shortness of breath, which was caused by the irregular heartbeat. He returned to the team the next day and said he was fine.
The problem occurred again Monday, and the decision was made to have Bryant undergo what the team called a minor and common procedure this week. He is expected to make a full recovery.
To replace Bryant, the team promoted receiver Brian Tims from the practice squad.
Bryant had started all 12 games and had 45 tackles and 3.5 sacks.
He signed a five-year, $34 million deal in March, with $15 million of it guaranteed. Bryant and Paul Kruger were the two main free-agent additions by the Browns in the offseason.
