But Bush aggravated his calf during pregame warmups, and the Lions no longer had their starting running back.
"Reggie's been dealing with a calf injury that has been hampering him this week," Schwartz said following Detroit's 34-20 loss. "He was able to get out there on Friday and practice, and I thought he was going to be able to go (Sunday). In pregame warmups, he aggravated it and wasn't able to go."
Bush declined to speak to reporters about his injury after the game, but he was one of three starters to either not play or leave Sunday's game due to injury.
Lions right tackle LaAdrian Waddle left the game in the first quarter with an elbow injury and did not return, although Schwartz said he was available. Schwartz indicated the reason for sticking with Jason Fox over Waddle was that Fox was completely healthy, while Waddle was not.
After the game, Waddle did not seem too bothered by the injury.
"I'm not too concerned," Waddle said. "I'm not too worried about it."
Defensive end Ziggy Ansah injured his shoulder in the second half, and Schwartz said he would not have been available to return. He did not know what Ansah's future status would be.
"He hurt it during the game," Schwartz said. "We'll see. It doesn't look like it's long term, but we'll have to see."
