Daniel Kilgore receives new deal
It appears the San Francisco 49ers have settled on their starting center for 2014.
The team announced it has extended Daniel Kilgore's contract through the 2017 season.
Kilgore, who had been playing in a backup role, was set to become a free agent in 2015. The 26-year-old has played well at guard since being drafted in the fifth round in 2011.
"This move is another example of our philosophy to extend the contracts of our own young players," San Francisco general manager Trent Baalke said in a statement.
Jonathan Goodwin has been the 49ers' starting center the past three seasons. But he is 35 and a free agent, and the Niners haven't made an attempt to re-sign him.
