Falcons re-sign Corey Peters

The Atlanta Falcons kept one of their own before the start of free agency, re-signing defensive tackle Corey Peters to a one-year contract Tuesday.

Peters, who turns 26 in June, came on strong with a career-high five sacks in 2013 before suffering a season-ending Achilles' injury in a loss at San Francisco. He is expected to be ready for training camp.

Peters was one of three Falcons defensive tackles headed for free agency. There is a strong chance that Atlanta won't keep the other two players -- Jonathan Babineaux and Peria Jerry.

Peters, a third-round draft pick of the Falcons in 2010 out of Kentucky, has 140 tackles, nine sacks and an interception in his career.

He has started 53 of 56 games he's played in during four seasons.
