Roundup: No deal for Brandon Stokley

Wide receiver Brandon Stokley came to terms on a contract Wednesday with the Washington Redskins, but the player's agent said Stokley has backed out of the deal.

"Spoke to soon. Brandon Stokley won't sign with Redskins. Too many WR's signed," agent Rick Smith tweeted Thursday.

The Redskins did agree to terms Wednesday with former Ravens cornerback Josh Wilson, sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. The three-year deal is worth $13.5 million.

No free agent contracts can be signed until 6 p.m. Friday.

The Redskins also agreed with first-round draft pick Ryan Kerrigan, The Associated Press reported.

Second-rounder Jarvis Jenkins tweeted that his contract was signed shortly before Kerrigan's deal was settled.

The Redskins earlier reached terms with free agents Stephen Bowen, Chris Chester and Sav Rocca, who were set to sign their deals Friday afternoon.

Source: Colledge, Cardinals agree; QB Anderson released

The Arizona Cardinals landed one of their prime free-agent targets when they reached a five-year, $27.5 million with Green Bay Packers guard Daryn Colledge, a source told ESPN.com's John Clayton.

Sources said seven teams were in the hunt for Colledge, a 6-foot-4, 308-pound former second-round pick of the Packers. He started 76 games for the defending Super Bowl champion.

Colledge tweeted after contract talks with the Cardinals, his time with the Packers had come to an end.

"Thanks for the love guys," Colledge tweeted. "It truly breaks my heart to leave. It has been my greatest honor."

Colledge then embraced his new team, changing his Twitter profile photo to a Cardinals logo.

Arizona announced the team released quarterback Derek Anderson and linebacker Gerald Hayes. The Cardinals also reached agreement on a two-year, $1.95 million deal with defensive tackle Nick Eason, according to a source. Eason spent the last four seasons with the Steelers.

The Cardinals reached an agreement with starting center Lyle Sendlein on a multiyear deal, a source told Schefter.

Jaguars, Session reach agreement

Agent Harold Lewis says the deal for his client includes $11.5 million in guaranteed money and that the Colts did not make a strong push to keep Session.

The decision to let Session go is not a surprise. Indy has allowed linebackers such as Mike Peterson, Marcus Washington, Cato June and David Thornton all to leave as free agents over the past decade.

Lewis says Jacksonville, which also agreed to terms with Paul Posluszny this week, now has one of the NFL's strongest linebacker combinations.

The Jaguars also released veteran guard Justin Smiley and placed guard Vince Manuwai and long snapper Jeremy Cain on the non-football injury list.

Bryant is expected to sign the contract Friday. Terms of the deal were not immediately available.

Bryant is coming off perhaps the best of his nine NFL seasons. He made 28 of 31 field goals (90.3 percent) and connected on all 44 of his extra-point attempts. Bryant previously has played for the Buccaneers, Dolphins, Colts and Giants.

The Falcons also reached an agreement with offensive tackle Tyson Clabo, a source told Schefter. The deal is for five years and $25 million that includes $11.5 million in guarantees, a source told Clayton. The deal could max out at $27 million with incentives.

Bills agree with ex-Jet Smith

Smith's agent Mark Bartelstein confirmed his client's agreement and the terms of the contract.

Smith's versatility as a receiver, rusher and ability to take snaps out of the quarterback spot in wildcat formations complements Bills coach Chan Gailey's wide-open offensive philosophy. A four-year NFL player, Smith also has vast special teams experience as a punt-returner and on coverage units.

The Bucs also signed right tackle Jeremy Trueblood for two years and punter Michael Koenen for six years, sources said.

Source: Texans allow Okoye to seek trade

Houston switched out of a 4-3 defense to a 3-4 this season. Okoye's best position is defensive tackle in a 4-3, and his talents don't translate as well to an end in a 3-4 scheme.

Okoye and wide receiver David Anderson are both on the trade block. At 24 years old, Okoye is a young defensive tackle who might attract teams interested in 4-3 help.

Chiefs release Waters, Chambers, Bates

Waters played 163 games for the Chiefs over 11 seasons.

Chambers, a 10-year veteran, caught 22 passes for 213 yards last season. Bates spent the last two seasons with Kansas City after joining the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent.

Sources: Seahawks bolster D-line with Siavii, Branch

Branch has played in all 32 games at nose tackle the past two seasons for Arizona. Last season, Branch made three starts and recorded a career-high 35 tackles.

The Seahawks also reached an agreement to keep running back Michael Robinson, a source told Clayton. Terms of the deal were not available.

Robinson is one of the Seahawks' top special teams players. He also offers versatility to their offense because he was a quarterback in college, a blocker in the backfield and a runner. The sixth-year veteran spent his first four NFL seasons with the 49ers.

Linebacker and special teams standout Matt McCoy is also returning to Seattle after agreeing to a new deal.

McCoy's agent says his contract is for one year. McCoy played mostly on special teams but also had 19 tackles last season for the Seahawks. McCoy's signing is important with linebacker Will Herring moving on to New Orleans.

The Bengals reached an agreement with former Raiders linebacker Thomas Howard on a two-year, $6.5 million deal, a source told Schefter.

Randle El, Starks cut by Steelers

Randle El, a college quarterback who became a receiver in the NFL, threw a touchdown pass to Hines Ward to clinch Pittsburgh's win over Seattle in the 2006 Super Bowl. He had two stints with the Steelers and also played four seasons with the Redskins.

Starks was drafted by the Steelers in the third round (75th overall) in 2004. He started 68 games in his seven seasons in Pittsburgh, including seven in 2010 before being placed on injured reserve with a neck problem. Starks started two Super Bowls for the Steelers.

The Steelers did reach agreement to keep offensive tackle Jonathan Scott, a source told Clayton.

Starters Hines Ward and Chris Kemoeatu will start training camp on the physically unable to perform list, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported.

Ward had surgery on a thumb and Kemoeatu has swelling in a knee.

Browns release Delhomme, two others

The Browns are going all-in with second-year quarterback Colt McCoy this season and recently signed backup Seneca Wallace to a three-year extension. The Browns did not select a developmental quarterback in the NFL draft this year.

The Browns paid the 36-year-old Delhomme $7 million last season to throw for 872 yards, two touchdowns and seven interceptions in five games. Delhomme was scheduled to make $5.4 million in base salary.

Cleveland also is expected to add Saints safety Usama Young when NFL teams can start signing free agents at 6 p.m. Friday. Young, from nearby Kent State, played four years for the Saints.

Former Packers running back Brandon Jackson also reached an agreement with the Browns on a two-year, $4.5 million deal, a source told Schefter.

Vikings release safety Williams

The Vikings announced the moves. Williams spent three seasons in Minnesota, but was largely a disappointment after signing a big-money deal to come over from Cincinnati in 2008. Williams had 75 total tackles and one interception last season. He was due to make $5.4 million this season.

The Vikings are up against the salary cap and needed to cut Williams to save money.

Minnesota also released backup defensive tackle Jimmy Kennedy and seldom used receiver Freddie Brown.

They also announced that they have signed college free agents Alexander Robinson, a running back from Iowa State, and Ed Barham, a tight end from North Carolina.

Foot injury sidelines Crabtree

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree will be sidelined for the start of training camp for the third straight year, this time with a foot injury that leaves his status uncertain for the preseason. Crabtree could miss four to six weeks, the Sacramento Bee reported.

The 49ers announced Crabtree will be placed on the physically unable to perform list. He was bothered by a foot injury that forced him out of informal workouts this summer led by quarterback Alex Smith.

Fullback Bruce Miller and wide receiver Dominique Zeigler were also added to the PUP list.

Backup quarterback David Carr, who had a poor 5-for-13 performance in his only game last year, was released.

The 49ers have signed first-round pick Aldon Smith, second-round selection Colin Kaepernick and the rest of their 10-man rookie class to four-year contracts.

Under the new NFL labor agreement, there is a club option for a fifth year.

Smith is expected to be San Francisco's pass-rushing outside linebacker in a 3-4 scheme. Kaepernick will challenge Alex Smith for the starting quarterback job.

The 49ers also reached an agreement with former Eagles kicker David Akers, a source told Schefter. Akers told The Associated Press his contract is for three years.

Fairley signs with Lions

First-round draft pick Nick Fairley signed with the Lions.

Brian Overstreet, Fairley's agent, says the defensive lineman signed a four-year deal worth "right around $10 million" -- with a club option for a fifth year.

Fairley, who played at Auburn last season, was the No. 13 pick in the 2011 draft. Detroit also signed its other four draft picks from this year.

The Lions also reached agreements with a pair of free agents -- Justin Durant and Rashied Davis.

Durant, a linebacker who played four seasons with the Jaguars, confirmed he will sign a two-year contract with the Lions. Davis, a wide receiver who played six years for the Chicago Bears, is also headed to Detroit, according to his agent.

Defensive back John Wendling agreed to terms on a three-year deal to remain with the Lions, according to his agent.

The Detroit Lions were set to release linebacker Jordon Dizon and wide receiver Bryant Johnson.

Chargers cut ties with six players

Davis was one of general manager A.J. Smith's most questionable draft picks, failing to live up to his billing as the team's first-round pick in 2007. Davis had 21 catches for 259 yards and one touchdown last season before going on the injured reserve Nov. 3.
