Fewer season-ending injuries in 2011

Even with some of the NFL's top players sidelined, there have been fewer season-ending injuries in 2011 than there were at this point a year ago.

There are 130 players on injured reserve as compared to 142 that were on IR through three games last season.

Some players and coaches were concerned the league's long lockout could lead to a rise in IR cases, but Broncos safety Brian Dawkins said curtailed training camp workouts that were part of the new labor accord helped keep veterans healthier heading into the regular season.

The decrease is probably of little consolation to teams that have been hit hard by injuries such as the Chiefs, who've lost Jamaal Charles, Eric Berry and Tony Moeaki for the year.
