QBR Season Leaders: Week 5
Total QBR is a quarterback rating that takes into account all of a quarterback's contributions (passing, rushing, sacks, fumbles, penalties) to his team's scoring and winning and summarizes them into one number on a 0-100 scale, on which 50 is average.
Total QBR
ESPN introduces Total QBR:
For a season, a Total QBR of 65 or better is roughly Pro Bowl level and a rating of 75-plus is MVP level. For more about the methodology and statistics behind Total QBR, see here.
Aaron Rodgers maintained his spot atop the season-long Total QBR rankings, staying just barely ahead of Tom Brady as they both scored in the low 80s in Week 5. Drew Brees' great game launched him into the top five, while Matt Schaub and Eli Manning took big tumbles after poor outings.
Blaine Gabbert (26.2 Total QBR in Week 5) did just enough to move out of the last spot, leaving Kerry Collins as the lowest-ranked quarterback among qualifiers so far this year.
Below is the full breakdown of Total QBR and its component statistics for the 33 NFL QBs on pace for 250 action plays this season.
