Richard Seymour fined for Schaub hit
Seymour was fined $15,000 for a hit on Texans quarterback Matt Schaub late in the Raiders' 25-20 win at Houston in Week 5. An NFL spokesman said Seymour was fined for roughing the passer, hitting Schaub below the knees.
The Patriots traded Seymour to the Raiders in September 2009. He agreed to a two-year extension with Oakland earlier this year worth up to $30 million.
Rice plans to appeal. No penalty was called on the play, which occurred in the Ravens' 37-7 win over the Rams on Sept. 25.
It is not illegal to stiff-arm an opponent, but the league said offensive players are not allowed to grab an opponent's face mask. Ravens coach John Harbaugh says "he didn't really see" whether Rice grabbed or twisted Fletcher's face mask.
