PHILADELPHIA -- Jason Avant refuses to apologize for his remarks. He's more than willing to explain them.

Avant, a slot receiver certainly not known for making inflammatory comments, became the subject of wrath among Eagles fans this week after making uncharacteristic comments critical of "bandwagon fans" in an interview after the Eagles beat the Cowboys on Sunday.

"We don't want people jumping on our bandwagon now," Avant said after Philadelphia defeated Dallas, 34-7. "We want people to go out and still talk bad about us."

Avant also said: "We look at home games like road games" and, "We like to get booed by our fans."

Avant's comments echoed those made three years earlier by Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins, who described Philadelphia fans this way: "You know, they're front runners. When you're doing good, they're on your side. When you're doing bad, they're completely against you."

The Eagles (3-4) have won two straight, and will face Chicago (4-3) on Monday night.
