Emmanuel Sanders has knee surgery
Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders is expected to miss "a couple of weeks" after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his knee, coach Mike Tomlin announced Tuesday.
Hensley: Steelers Should Start WR Brown
With Emmanuel Sanders out and Hines Ward not a top option anymore, the Steelers should start Antonio Brown opposite Mike Wallace, ESPN.com's Jamison Hensley writes. Blog
Sanders is fourth on the team with 18 catches for 243 yards and two touchdowns. He started two weeks ago when Hines Ward was out with an ankle injury. He missed Sunday's loss against the Baltimore Ravens following his mother's death earlier in the week.
Ward is "doing well" with concussion-like symptoms and is not expected to be limited this week, Tomlin said. Ward left Sunday night's loss in the second quarter after a helmet-to-helmet hit from linebacker Ray Lewis.
"It shouldn't prohibit him or slow him down in any form or fashion here," Tomlin said.
The status of injured linebackers LaMarr Woodley (hamstring) and James Farrior (calf) will be evaluated later in the week.
