Arizona Cardinals quarterback John Skelton, not Kevin Kolb, started Sunday against the St. Louis Rams.

Kolb still is nursing a toe injury and wasn't physically ready to start, even though he was listed as questionable before the game.

Skelton was 12 of 23 for 114 yards and two interceptions in the Cardinals' 23-20 victory.

It was his second straight subpar performance after struggling mightily in Arizona's 23-7 loss at San Francisco last Sunday.

The second-year pro from Fordham completed 6 of 19 passes for 99 yards and was intercepted three times before being benched in the fourth quarter against the Niners.

Kolb, acquired in a heralded trade with Philadelphia then signed to a big contract, struggled adjusting to the new offense and the team was 1-6 when he was injured.

Information from ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter and The Associated Press was used in this report.
