Julio Jones returns for Falcons

ATLANTA -- Falcons rookie receiver Julio Jones returned from a right hamstring injury and started Sunday against Minnesota, which was missing running back Adrian Peterson.

Jones failed to record a reception in Atlanta's 24-14 win over Minnesota.

Jones missed last week's win over Tennessee after missing two games earlier in the season with a left hamstring injury.

Toby Gerhart started for Peterson, who on Saturday was downgraded from doubtful to out with his left high ankle sprain. Peterson missed only his fourth game in his fifth NFL season.

Gerhart ran for 44 yards and a touchdown in the loss.

Vikings tight end Visanthe Shiancoe, who was questionable due to a strained hamstring, started but backup tight end Kyle Rudolph was ruled out with a bruised quadriceps.

Tyrell Johnson started at strong safety for Husain Abdullah (concussion). Joe Berger started at right guard for Anthony Herrera (knee).
