Steve Johnson aggravates groin injury

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- The Buffalo Bills are getting even more banged up after receiver Steve Johnson aggravated a groin injury, and tight end Lee Smith hurt his left ankle in a 30-23 loss to the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.

Coach Chan Gailey has already ruled out Smith from playing on Dec. 24, when the Bills (5-9) host Denver. Smith was hurt in the third quarter, and was later carted off from the sideline.

As for Johnson, who had five catches for 82 yards, Gailey says he didn't allow the team's top receiver back into the game for Buffalo's final two possessions.

Johnson's status is uncertain and won't be updated until the Bills return to practice Tuesday. He's been bothered by a groin injury for much of this season. Buffalo's dropped seven straight.
