Broncos' Von Miller fined $7,500
Von Miller is going to have to pay for losing his temper in a losing effort.
The NFL, according to a league spokesman, fined the Denver Broncos' rookie linebacker $7,500 for unnecessary roughness in Denver's 45-10 loss at New England in an AFC divisional playoff game Saturday night.
Miller, the No. 2 overall draft pick and a leading candidate for the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year award, lost his cool after New England quarterback Tom Brady punted on third down late in the game. Miller shoved New England's Dan Connolly seemingly without being provoked. That started a melee that spilled over to the New England sideline.
Miller was fined at least $47,500 in his rookie season. He was fined $25,000 for a hit on New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez in November, weeks after being fined $15,000 for a hit on Oakland Raiders quarterback Carson Palmer.
Patriots safety Patrick Chung was also fined $7,500 by the NFL for unnecessary roughness.
Chung hit a defender late out of bounds in the third quarter.
