A source told ESPN's Andrew Brandt that Jenkins retains the $5 million roster bonus he is due in March but his 2012 salary is reduced to $820,000. Jenkins will also receive a $1.5 million guaranteed salary in 2013, along with a $1 million roster bonus in March 2013.

Jenkins agreed to a five-year deal with the Eagles last July, but reportedly was to be paid over $7 million in 2012, including the $5 million roster bonus due next month. So his future with the team wasn't guaranteed unless the sides could agree to rework his contract.

“We are very excited about having Cullen back on our football team," general manager Howie Roseman said in a statement on the team's website. "Cullen made an immediate impact for us this year on and off the field. We look forward to a great future together with him in an Eagles uniform."

Jenkins, 31, had 40 tackles and 5½ sacks in his first season with the Eagles. He signed with Philadelphia as a free agent last summer after spending the first seven seasons of his career with the Green Bay Packers.

Jenkins acknowledged his new agreement with a post to his Twitter page Tuesday.

"Appreciate all the support and kind words from everyone. Exciting time for me and my family," he wrote.

The 6-foot-2, 305-pound defensive tackle has 34½ career sacks.
