Stevie Johnson to undergo surgery
C.J. Laboy confirmed in an email Monday that the surgery is scheduled to take place in Philadelphia on Tuesday.
Johnson announced the news himself on his Twitter account, noting he wants to be 100 percent healthy heading into the season. Upon arriving in Philadelphia on Sunday evening, Johnson then proceeded to post photos of his search to find the city's best cheesesteak.
Laboy said the procedure was planned. Though he added Johnson is expected to be fully recovered within weeks, the Bills aren't expected to rush the player's rehab.
That makes it uncertain whether Johnson will be cleared to participate for the start of a series of voluntary minicamps, which open May 29.
With 1,004 yards receiving last season, Johnson became the first Bills player to break the 1,000-yard mark in consecutive seasons. He avoided becoming a free agent in March, when he signed a five-year, $36.25 million contract extension.
