New Orleans Saints owner Tom Benson spent Tuesday morning discussing his team's embattled offseason with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell at a meeting in New York.

Benson wanted to address the manner in which his team has been treated for its role in an alleged bounty program, at a time when a Louisiana judge is waiting to rule on linebacker Jonathan Vilma's lawsuit against the league, according to sources.
What came out of the meeting is uncertain.
"Today Mr. Benson visited with Commissioner Goodell in New York. It was a very productive meeting and he looks forward to having many more discussions with the commissioner on specific Saints related issues as well as league-wide issues," Saints spokesman Greg Bensel said in a statement.
The two sides had been working on planning this meeting for a while, and they attempted to get it done last week, before the two sides' busy schedules interfered.
NFL spokesman Greg Aiello declined to confirm the commissioner's meeting with Benson and added that Goodell meets and talks with owners all the time on a wide range of issues.
