Tannehill was hit by Jets linebacker Calvin Pace in the first quarter on the Dolphins' second possession and didn't return. Backup quarterback Matt Moore filled in for Miami during its 30-9 blowout victory over the Jets.
"We were up big and Matt was doing a good job," Tannehill said in the locker room after the game. "I just couldn't get it all the way warmed up all the way. I could bend it. But I didn't want to hurt our team basically. I could've gone in if it were an emergency situation."
Moore finished 11 of 19 for 131 yards and a touchdown after Tannehill was 2 of 5 for 18 yards
Tannehill said he is scheduled for an MRI on his knee and quad Monday morning but doesn't anticipate anything major.
"I'm optimistic about it," Tannehill said. "I'm optimistic about getting ready to go for next week. I'm just taking it one day at a time and doing everything I can to get healthy again."
