Todd Herremans placed on IR

The NFL Network's Donovan McNabb comments on Andy Reid's performance as the Eagles' coach, Michael Vick, playing QB in Philadelphia, Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III and more.
Through eight games, the porous Philadelphia Eagles offensive line has allowed 27 sacks and a league-worst 71 quarterback hits. Michael Vick's already shaky protection is likely to get much worse, however.
Right tackle Todd Herremans was placed on the season-ending injured reserve list on Wednesday as Philadelphia's season to forget continues. Herremans suffered a dislocated bone and ligament damage in his right foot in Monday's loss to New Orleans. He should be ready for training camp, but the injury is the latest blow to a depleted offensive line. Herremans will wear a boot for at least eight weeks.
The Eagles promoted guard Julian Vandervelde from their practice squad to fill Herremans' roster spot.
Herremans, Vick's blindside protector, and left guard Evan Mathis were about the only two reliable linemen left standing of late.

"You can't function at this level with seven sacks," coach Andy Reid said Tuesday.
Vick was sacked, under duress or hit while throwing on 18 of his 53 dropbacks (34.0 percent) Monday against New Orleans, according to ESPN Stats & Information. Entering Monday, he was under such pressure on 32.5 percent of his dropbacks, the highest rate in the NFL. When Vick was able to get off a pass under duress Monday he was 3-of-8 for 34 yards (4.3 yards per attempt) with an interception.
"I've just got to believe in the guys in front of me and do whatever it takes to get the ball out whether I've got to slide or move, break contain. Regardless, I just have to continue to maintain trust in them," Vick said. "That's part of my job as a quarterback and I have to keep believing. Keep believing."
