Chargers officials picked up Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy in Denver on Monday and took him back to San Diego for an interview, sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

New general manager Tom Telesco is leading the search for a coach to replace Norv Turner, who was fired along with GM A.J. Smith on Dec. 31 after the Chargers finished 7-9.

McCoy also is scheduled to interview for the Arizona Cardinals' head coaching job for a second time Tuesday, according to league sources.

Former Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt and Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden already have interviewed for the vacant Chargers coaching position. Former Bears coach Lovie Smith also reportedly talked to San Diego about the job.

McCoy already has interviewed with Arizona, Philadelphia and Chicago. The Jaguars also are expected to talk with him.

McCoy, 40, interviewed with the Dolphins last season before being passed over in favor of Joe Philbin, the former offensive coordinator of the Packers.

McCoy also drew praise for helping the Broncos reach the playoffs last season with a read-option offense run by Tim Tebow. McCoy has been the Broncos' offensive coordinator since 2009.

Information from ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, ESPN Senior NFL Analyst Chris Mortensen, ESPN.com AFC West blogger Bill Williamson and The Associated Press was used in this report.
