The Detroit Lions have signed tackle Corey Hilliard to a two-year contract extension, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Entering his fifth season with the Lions, Hilliard is expected to compete for a spot as the club's starting right tackle. Gosder Cherilus, last year's starter, is an impending free agent.

The Lions also cut guard Stephen Peterman earlier this offseason.
