Freeney said on XTRA Sports 1360 in San Diego that after years of going against the perennial Pro Bowler in practice with the Indianapolis Colts, he's looking forward to lining up against him without any restrictions.
"It would definitely be great to get after him," Freeney said. "He's a great competitor, I'm a great competitor. How many times have I envisioned hitting him during practice, when he had that 5-yard halo around him and you couldn't go in that circle? Millions of times. So it would be fun to get after him a little bit."
Manning should be wary of the speed-rushing Freeney, who racked up a franchise-record 107½ sacks during his tenure with the Colts.
Freeney, who left Indianapolis to sign with the San Diego Chargers in the offseason, went on to say that he loved playing with Manning and considers him like family.
Freeney gets his first shot at Manning when the Chargers visit the Denver Broncos on Nov. 10. The rematch comes in prime time on Dec. 12.
