Bart Scott hired by CBS Sports
Bart Scott was hired by CBS Sports on Tuesday, apparently bringing an end to his 11-year NFL career.
A source had told ESPN last week that the veteran linebacker had been receiving interest from NFL teams and would soon pick a team to play with this season, but he chose to join the media instead.
Scott will appear on the CBS Sports Network's "That Other Pregame Show" which will debut Sunday, Sept. 8. Amy Trask, who resigned as the CEO of the Oakland Raiders earlier this year, also was hired by CBS to appear on the show.
Released by the New York Jets in February, Scott told The New York Post that he had been considering playing in the NFL this season until he got the offer from CBS.
"This was a tremendous opportunity that I didn't want to pass up," Scott told the newspaper. "It's something I could be doing for the next 20 years."
Scott, 33, had 732 tackles, 25 sacks, six forced fumbles and four interceptions in 172 career games for the Baltimore Ravens and Jets.
He perhaps became best known during his New York tenure for his "Can't Wait!" rant on ESPN after the Jets upset the New England Patriots in the 2010 divisional playoffs.
