Reed will be on the Texans' active roster for the start of the regular season. Texans coach Gary Kubiak will decide next week whether or not to play the veteran in Week 1 against the San Diego Chargers.
Reed had arthroscopic hip surgery in April to repair a torn labrum. He missed all of the Texans' offseason and preseason while recovering from the injury.
The nine-time Pro Bowler joined the Texans in free agency. He believes he suffered the injury while with the Baltimore Ravens during the AFC Championship Game against the New England Patriots. Reed still played in the Super Bowl.
