John Fox: Hillman was going in game
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- With the Philadelphia Eagles already on his mind, Denver Broncos coach John Fox played rock to scissors, paper to rock, in dispelling the idea his team's running backs decided who would get a touchdown carry Monday night by playing a game on the sideline.
Following the Broncos' 37-21 victory over the Raiders, several of the Broncos players referenced running backs Ronnie Hillman, Knowshon Moreno and Montee Ball having played rock, paper, scissors just before Hillman's 1-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
Hillman said following the game that the running backs "were just having fun.''
But roughly 15 hours after the Broncos had finished Monday's game, Fox was not so jovial about the whole thing.
"That's just stuff for people who like to get on TV and have something to talk about,'' Fox said Tuesday afternoon.
"I mean, Ronnie Hillman was going back in the game, that had nothing to do with that, it was just trying to have fun I guess. Ronnie was going in the ballgame. We decide that, that had nothing to do with it," the coach said.
