Reggie Wayne makes 1,000th catch
Wayne's catch with less than 10 minutes remaining in Monday's game against the San Diego Chargers was the 1,000th of his career, making him the ninth player in league history to reach that milestone. Harrison is third on the list with 1,102 catches.
The Colts didn't waste any time going to Wayne. In fact, they went to him on the first play of the game.
Wayne caught a 35-yard pass from quarterback Andrew Luck on a flea-flicker with running back Trent Richardson. Wayne caught a 3-yard pass in the second quarter, and didn't get catches 999 and 1,000 until the fourth quarter when the Colts were down 16-6.
The 1,000th catch was a 21-yard reception on which Wayne had to go low to get the ball before it hit the ground.
Wayne finished Monday's 19-9 loss with five catches (1,001 overall) for 88 yards. He passed Hines Ward (1,000) for eighth place on the NFL list.
"It's a great honor," Wayne said. "It's a humbling experience to be in an elite class with a bunch of guys who have helped pave the way for guys like myself. I wish it was more of a greater celebration. I would rather take the W than any accolades."
