PHILADELPHIA -- Eagles quarterback Michael Vick will run an important 100-yard dash Friday. His only opponent will be his own left hamstring.

"I'm going to run 100 yards as fast as I can," Vick said after practice Thursday. "I'm going to try to cut it, make some sudden movement in the pocket and see what happens."

It will be Vick's first time running at full speed since pulling the hamstring Oct. 6. It will also be the final test before Vick is sure he can start Sunday against the New York Giants.

"There's always going to be doubt, fear of failure," Vick said. "To me, if I can't do it, it's going to be a failure. But I'm very optimistic."

And if he doesn't feel right?

"I'll let Coach [Chip] Kelly make that determination," Vick said.

Barring a serious setback, Vick appears to be on track to play after missing two starts. He has taken at least some part in every practice since the injury, and he has taken the first-team snaps this week. He came through Wednesday's more intense, padded practice and felt fine Thursday morning.

"I want to be out there with my teammates," Vick said. "That's why I'm giving it everything I've got. I miss football, I can tell you that."
