Thumbs up or down: Corey Coleman

The Browns traded down in the first down yet again, snagging Corey Coleman with the 15th overall pick. Was it the right move? Pat McManamon answers

Here are the Browns picks so far through the first round: 1. Corey Coleman, WR, Baylor.

Pat McManamon ESPN Staff Writer

Coach Hue Jackson, asked if he wanted a receiver in the first round, said: "As fast as I could get one, and obviously one that runs really fast and knows how to score touchdowns, and that's what this guy (Corey Coleman) can do for us." Jackson called Coleman "one of the most dynamic players in this draft."

Browns VP Sashi Brown said he does not anticipate that the Browns will trade up from the 32nd pick and into the first round. If they don't the Browns will end the night with WR Corey Coleman and the first pick when the second round begins on Friday.

The best thing about WR Corey Coleman, the Browns first-round draft pick? He set a Baylor record with 33 career touchdowns, and a single-season record with 20 last season. The Browns need playmakers who can get in the end zone. Coleman did that in college.

Tristan H. Cockcroft ESPN Senior Writer

Corey Coleman a solid pick for Browns, but in fantasy terms faces an uphill challenge. Anquan Boldin (173, 2003 ARI) and Mike Evans (168, 2014 TB) the only rookie WRs with 160+ for a below-average scoring team.

Coleman a perfect fit in Cleveland (0:54)

Browns certainly needed outside help. Corey Coleman is definitely fast. But hard to invest in that offense with RGIII at QB.

Todd McShay ESPN Senior Writer

Smart choice for the Browns at No. 15 selecting WR Corey Coleman. They needed a vertical threat for Robert Griffin III, who has a big arm and can throw the deep ball effectively. Plus, they got a truckload of picks for moving back twice from No. 2 overall.

Matt Bowen ESPN Staff Writer

Browns should put Corey Coleman at X receiver and give him four or five routes to run as a rookie. Cater to his speed and athleticism. Allow him to be a playmaker.

Browns pick Corey Coleman with 15th pick

After trading down in the first round, Cleveland selects the draft's first wide receiver, Baylor's Corey Coleman, at No. 15. Draft results & analysis

Pat McManamon ESPN Staff Writer

The Browns are now on the clock and they have their pick of the receivers.

Pat McManamon ESPN Staff Writer

The Browns now have seven of the first 100 picks in the draft, and five of the first 77. That clearly gives them what they need if they want to trade up from the 32nd spot and into the first round for a quarterback.

Pat McManamon ESPN Staff Writer

As the Browns first-round pick approaches, I fully expect their selection to be a receiver -- either Josh Doctson or Laquon Treadwell. Darkhorse candidates: Corey Coleman of Baylor, Will Fuller of Notre Dame or Michael Thomas of Ohio State.

Pat McManamon ESPN Staff Writer

The Browns continued to add draft picks when they traded down from the eighth spot for Tennessee's first-round pick (15th overall), a third-round pick in this draft and a second-round pick in the 2017 draft. The Browns now have two first- and second-round picks in 2017, and two second-round picks in 2018.

Pat McManamon ESPN Staff Writer

The Browns managed to complete a trade. They move down to 15, Tennessee moves up to eight.

Pat McManamon ESPN Staff Writer

One other viable option for the Browns: CB Vernon Hargreaves. The team better have complete medical reports on the knee of LB Myles Jack.

Pat McManamon ESPN Staff Writer

I don't take Tunsil. I don't take a three-four DL. I take the receiver the team likes best, Josh Doctson or Laquon Treadwell.

Pat McManamon ESPN Staff Writer

The Browns need a WR. Could they take Josh Doctson or Laquon Treadwell with the eighth pick?

Pat McManamon ESPN Staff Writer

The one problem with the Browns trading down is finding a trade partner with Joey Bosa and Ezekiel Elliott off the board.

Pat McManamon ESPN Staff Writer

Joey Bosa and Ezekiel Elliott going three-four sets this up perfectly for the Browns to make that trade down. The only player left truly worth taking at eight is DB Jalen Ramsey, but he's likely to be gone before the Browns pick.
