The Lions have waived center Braxston Cave and tight end Casey Pierce according to colleague Field Yates. Cave's future was in trouble after the Lions drafted Graham Glasgow. Pierce was a practice squad tight end who could have competed for the No. 3 TE spot.

The Lions have fired east coast scout Chad Henry and Midwest scout Darren Anderson, according to a league source. Henry had been with the Lions since 1998 in personnel and scouting. Anderson had been with the Lions since 2012. Lions GM Bob Quinn said after the draft he was still evaluating his scouts.

The Lions have picked up the fifth year option on defensive end Ezekiel Ansah. The move was expected for one of the best young players in the NFL. He has become Detroit's best defensive player and was third in the league in sacks last season.
