Do you believe in Fitzmagic?

This battle is between Ryan Fitzpatrick and management. The Jets want Fitzpatrick to be their starter, but he says he'd rather retire than play for $8 million a year. Until that happens, the Jets' situation is in flux. And dare we mention their next option -- Geno Smith. 2016 QB battles

Biggest remaining holes for all 32 teams

The Colts still need depth behind RB Frank Gore, and the Bucs could use a receiver opposite Mike Evans. Football Outsiders analyzes the biggest post-draft needs for every team.

The Jets waived WR Joe Anderson, best known for holding a sign outside the Texans' facility asking for an NFL job.

The Jets haven't given away Ryan Fitzpatrick's No. 14 just yet. Rookie QB Christian Hackenberg, who wore 14 in college, was given No. 5. Darron Lee received No. 50. The Jets apparently don't believe in jinxes. It's the same number worn by former draft bust Vernon Gholston, who, like Lee, was a first-round linebacker out of Ohio State (2008).

Robinson would help Jets take off

Cam Robinson is a player who is consistently large and in charge on Alabama's offensive line. His toughness is never in question, and he could help New York's run game. Way-too-early 2017 mock draft (Insider)

Here come the draft-pick signings: The Jets have agreed to terms with seventh-round punter Lachland Edwards (Sam Houston State), his agent announced on Twitter. It's four years, $2.4M.

Jets reached in first-round

Pro Football Focus likes Darron Lee as a player but thought he should not have been taken in the first round. Lee's a good athlete, but that doesn't always translate to coverage ability. Potential busts (Insider)

The Jets have $3.8M in cap space, according to ESPN Stats & Information.

The Jets "strongly considered" trading out of the first round in a proposed deal with the Cowboys, per GM Mike Maccagnan. The Cowboys (at 34) tried to get into the 20s to pick Paxton Lynch. They called the Jets (20), who opted to stand pat and took LB Darron Lee. (via WFAN).

If the Jets carry four QBs in Week 1, as GM Mike Maccagnan suggests, they'd be the first team since 2013 to do so, according to ESPN Stats & Info. That year, the Redskins had four true QBs. The Vikings had three plus Joe Webb, a QB-turned-receiver. Believe it or not, there was one team that carried four QBs four times in the 2000s. That team? The Jets. They last did it in '09 -- Mark Sanchez, Kellen Clemens, Erik Ainge and Kevin O'Connell.
