Jim Tomsula said it was his "understanding" that QB Colin Kaepernick was in the 49ers facility today to begin his rehab from last week's surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left (non-throwing) shoulder.

"Things happen on a football field in real time. My vantage point of the play was we came in and Dial was working to get to the strike zone...between the knees and the shoulders...and I did see him lower to get in the strike zone. But I am not here to critique officiating." - 49ers coach Jm Tomsula, on the hit Quinton Dial delivered to Cardinals QB Carson Palmer that drew a controversial roughing the passer penalty, rather than an 8-yard sack,

CARDINALS 19, 49ERS 13 (Final): It was a game effort by the Niners defense, which made the top-ranked offense in the league look ugly at times. But a tough roughing the passer penalty on Quinton Dial kept alive the Cardinals' game-winning drive and the Niners offense could not answer, getting an 18-yard completion on 4th and 20.

CARDINALS 6, 49ERS 3 (Halftime): Phil Dawson ended the half by converting his 17th straight field goal, this one a 53-yarder as time expired. Other than that, the only other Niners highlight would be rookie punter Bradley Pinion's 1st quarter punt pinning the Cardinals at their 1-yard line.
