Round 2: Thomas best fit for Titans at 33

Our Insiders take a look at how tonight's Round 2 should play out if every team was drafting purely for best fit. They think Tennessee should draft WR Michael Thomas, who would provide Marcus Mariota with a big, reliable target. Round 2 best fits mock draft (Insider)

Players I think are among second-day Titans targets: CBs Xavien Howard and Kendall Fuller, S Vonn Bell, WR Tyler Boyd, OLB Kamalei Correa.

Titans among Round 1 winners

In dire need of a tackle to help protect QB Marcus Mariota, Tennessee was able to move back into the top 10 and get offensive tackle Jack Conklin, an ascending player who can line up on either the left or the right side of the line. Mel Kiper Jr. (Insider)

As expected, quarterbacks went 1-2 in the NFL draft. But Round 1 wasn't without a few questionable picks. Rounds 2 and 3 continue Friday (7 p.m. ET on ESPN & WatchESPN).

Thumbs up or down: Jack Conklin

Tennessee traded back into the top 10 and took Jack Conklin instead of Laremy Tunsil. Was it the right decision? Paul Kuharsky answers

Paul Kuharsky ESPN Staff Writer

Titans trade with Browns for No. 8 scored an 85 on Jimmy Johnson trade chart and a 67 on the Football Perspective calculator. A 100 is even, lower is a "loss." I'm not married to the calculators. I am married to Teresa. But the Titans certainly gave up a lot.

Paul Kuharsky ESPN Staff Writer

Jack Conklin: Roughly four years ago today I found out I was going to be able to walk on at Michigan State. Now I'm the eighth pick. I'd say I'm a mauler. Get my job done and then put my guy on the ground.

Paul Kuharsky ESPN Staff Writer

Jack Conklin: Ever since visit, I had a sense it was the organization I was going to wind up with.

Titans controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk and part owner Kenneth Adams were in coaching office hallway outside press conference. Quite happy.

Mike Mularkey: Assuming Jack Conklin's style is going to be very contagious. It's what we are going to have up front. We have a lot to improve on. Sacks were not all the line. It's going to get better. Jon Robinson: DeMarco Murray will probably like him quite a bit.

Paul Kuharsky ESPN Staff Writer

Titans GM Jon Robinson: Jack Conklin embodies team-first guy we want to the Nth degree. Asked about Laremy Tunsul, Robinson said: "We liked Conklin for a long time."

Eric Karabell ESPN Senior Writer

Not moving DeMarco Murray up yet but Titans getting Jack Conklin is a nice grab. It helps.

Kiper scouting report: Jack Conklin

Mel Kiper Jr. breaks down the film on Jack Conklin, whom Tennessee traded up to No. 8 to select. What are Conklin's strengths and weaknesses?

Todd McShay ESPN Senior Writer

Love the Titans moving up to get an offensive tackle to protect QB Marcus Mariota. Keeping him on the field and healthy has to be the franchise's No. 1 priority. GM Jon Robinson is killing it.

Paul Kuharsky ESPN Staff Writer

Jack Conkin, the Michigan State offensive tackle, is the Titans new right tackle and a key for Marcus Mariota and DeMarco Murray. Titans gave up 15, 76 in the second and a 2017 second-rounder. Also got back a sixth on Saturday.

Matt Bowen ESPN Staff Writer

Jack Conklin gives the Titans a physical mauler at right tackle. This allows Tennessee to keep Taylor Lewan on the left side of the line as they continue to build in front of quarterback Marcus Mariota.

Titans trade up for Jack Conklin at No. 8

Tennessee traded up to Cleveland's spot at No. 8 and used the pick on OL Jack Conklin, who is a former Spartan. Draft results & analysis
