Jennings to OBJ: 'Stop it, you are better than that' (1:45)

Linebacker Su'A Cravens made a highlight play Friday with a leaping interception. He said he didn't have to do much. But what he did well: get to the right spot. Cravens did so with a correct read of the back. Quarterback Colt McCoy couldn't get the ball over Cravens' head.

Redskins corner Josh Norman has rubbed off on his teammates. A number of them have said how they see him doing extra work in practice or elsewhere and it prompts them to do the same.

Redskins tight end Jordan Reed stayed after practice to catch more passes off the jugs machine. Reed caught 25 passes off the machine, turning and catching them from about 10 feet away. He takes at least 10 turning to each side. In practice he displayed great hands by reaching back to the middle and securing a pass. It was an athletic catch not many tight ends could make.

Redskins running back Chris Thompson left the field about five minutes early with an athletic trainer. Thompson was walking OK.

Is Jordan Reed the next red zone king?

That title still belongs to Rob Gronkowski, but Bill Barnwell gives special mention to Reed. Washington's top tight end scored on a whopping 18.2 percent of his red zone routes in 2015. Red zone analysis

Defensive lineman Stephen Paea has had some effective rushes today. He would have sacked Kirk Cousins when he quickly beat center Kory Lichtensteiger to the left. Paea showed that same quickness in beating Spencer Long in a one-on-one.

The Redskins linebackers drove the sled but there were no pads on it. By removing the pads it narrowed the target and forced them to keep their hands right as Ryan Kerrigan showed.

The Redskins will work in full pads tomorrow but coach Jay Gruden said the starters "won't do any live tackling until week one of the preseason."

Redskins coach Jay Gruden said they are activating linebacker Perry Riley off the physically unable to perform list. Riley had been limited this offseason after having more surgery on his foot in February.

Redskins safety Duke Ihenacho said he can feel a difference in the team coming off a 9-7 season. "The confidence of the team is light years (ahead) of what it was two years ago," he said. "That's a reason to be optimistic."

Redskins corner Josh Norman smiled and laughed when asked, again, about New York Giants receiver Odell Beckham. "I don't know what to say about that," Norman said. "I guess a guy talks about youtaht much, you must be doing something right…. It means nothing to me. He's talking about me, but I'm not talking about him."

One thing noticeable in Redskins training camp today: How corner Bashaud Breeland has developed with his hands. As a rookie Breeland's coverage skills were solid but he liked to hold. Coaches wanted him to play with his hands lower in some coverages to help. And that's what was noticeable today. Against Pierre Garcon on some routes, Breeland's hands were near Garçons hips. Even if he held its unlikely it would be caught. Breeland is a smart corner who learns lessons well. That's just one example.

Rookies over veterans?

Coaches were thrilled with second-year slot receiver Jamison Crowder this spring. If he and first-round pick Josh Doctson both develop this season, the Redskins could save money by letting pending free agents DeSean Jackson and Pierre Garcon walk, writes John Keim. Under-the-radar storylines

Big pay raises for a trio of quarterbacks

Andrew Luck's payday set an NFL record, but his raise wasn't the biggest that a quarterback received this offseason. Brock Osweiler and Kirk Cousins will each get cash value increases of more than 2,000 percent from 2015 to 2016.

ESPN Stats & Info

How could you not like that?

Kirk Cousins was about as hot as a quarterback can get to finish 2015. In Weeks 13-17, he led the NFL in completion percentage, yards per attempt and Total QBR while ranking second in TD passes.

Can Washington repeat in the NFC East?

History is slanted against it. The NFC East hasn't had a repeat champion in 11 years, while the Skins haven't made back-to-back trips to the playoffs in nearly a quarter century.

Redskins corner Josh Norman just broke up a pass to receiver DeSean Jackson. On the play, Jackson had to jump just a little for the Kirk Cousins pass. The ball was thrown into a tight window and Norman jumped up and stripped the ball.
