Bengals release Aaron Maybin

The Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday released linebacker Aaron Maybin, the 11th overall pick of the 2009 draft who already had been cut by two teams in four seasons.

Maybin, 25, was the Buffalo Bills' first-round pick out of Penn State in 2009 but never recorded a sack for the team before being released after just two seasons.

He showed promise in 2011, his first season with the New York Jets, when he led the team with six sacks and four forced fumbles. But the Jets cut him in November of last season after Maybin had one tackle and no sacks in eight games.

In 48 career games, he has totaled 36 tackles, six sacks and five forced fumbles.
