Overview
Zach Potter is a former defensive end at Nebraska, where he was a two-time All-Big 12 selection. After playing four seasons for the Cornhuskers, Potter was eligible to be selected in the 2009 NFL Draft, but went undrafted. Potter spent the 2009 preseason with the New York Jets, but is currently on the practice squad of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Prep Career
Potter was a standout football and basketball player at Creighton Prep in Omaha, NE. As a senior, Potter had 97 total tackles and 6.0 sacks on defense, while catching 24 passes for 501 yards on offense. He was a first team all-state selection as both a junior and a senior, and earned all-state honors while averaging 19 PPG and 11 RPG as a senior in basketball. Rivals.com ranked Potter as the No. 6 strongside DE recruit in the class of 2005. He committed to Nebraska in October of 2004, choosing the Cornhuskers over Kansas, Kansas State and Notre Dame.
Freshman & Sophomore Years
Potter spent his first two seasons at Nebraska backing up Adam Carriker while also seeing action on special teams. As a freshman, Potter had a blocked field goal in a 7-6 win over Pitt, and blocked a PAT in a 27-25 win over Kansas State. He had four total tackles in his first two seasons combined.
Junior Year
With Carriker gone to the NFL, Potter moved into the starting lineup in 2007. He started 11 times in 12 games, finishing with 45 total tackles, the most among Nebraska's defensive linemen. Potter was an honorable mention All-Big 12 selection by the league's coaches.
Senior Year
As a senior, Potter recorded 47 total tackles and 5.5 sacks. His 16 tackles for loss were second on the team and ranked in the top 10 in the Big 12. He earned honorable mention All-Big 12 honors for the second consecutive year. He capped off his career by recording four tackles in Nebraska's win over Clemson in the 2009 Gator Bowl. After the 2008 season, Potter was selected to participate in the 2009 Texas vs The Nation All-Star Classic. He had three total tackles (1.5 for loss) in a losing effort for the Texas team.
Professional Career
Potter was eligible to be selected in the 2009 NFL Draft, but went undrafted. He signed a free agent contract with the New York Jets, who waived him at the end of the 2009 preseason.

On Sept. 17, 2009, Potter was signed to the practice squad of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
