Jonathan Ruffin

PK | (5-9, 178, 4.88) | Cincinnati
By Pro Football Weekly

Notes: Played in every game in 1999, serving mainly as a kickoff specialist, and connected on 5-of-12 FG attempts and 23-of-25 extra points. Won the Lou Groza Award and was a first-team All-American in 2000, when he set Conference USA records with 26 made field goals and 29 attempts. Led the nation in field goals per game (2.36) and made 12 straight at one point during that season and was also the Conference USA Special Teams Player of the Year. Made all 26 PATs in '01 and 12-of-16 field goals. Had a string of 58 straight PATs heading into '02 season and made 44-of-46 as a senior. Also made 17-of-20 field goals. Kicks with a custom-made dance slipper with a sole on it instead of a soccer cleat.

Positives: Is very steady and does not get rattled in clutch situations. Quick approach and good lift. Accurate from 42 yards and in.

Negatives: Lacks a big-time, NFL leg and will not be nailing 50-yard kicks. Directionally and in undesirable weather conditions, is not an ideal kickoff specialist.

Summary: Teams will begin looking at Ruffin late in the draft.
