By Pro Football Weekly

Notes: Special-teams standout and backup as a second-year freshman in 1999. All-Southeastern Conference safety in 2000, '01 and '02. Had 24 tackles, four passes broken up and no interceptions in '99; 102-3-5 and four fumble recoveries in 2000; 72-3-2-2 in '01; and 78-5-2-0 in '02, when he missed the Auburn game with a deep thigh bruise. Played strong safety for the first four games in 2000 but has lined up at free safety since.

Positives: Good all-around athlete. Smart and alert player who makes good reads and decisions. Has better range than pure speed. Good ball skills and plays the ball well. Until this year, was quick to fill the running lanes and was a solid run-support safety who tackled well.

Negatives: Pure safety who can't play the corner. Did not play with the toughness and aggressiveness he had shown prior to last season. Stopped playing downhill and was slow to fill the running lanes. Was the second man in instead of the first one.

Summary: Looked like a solid safety as an underclassmen, but off his senior year you would question his run support and aggressiveness. Is a little stiff and not a top cover safety. Better in zone or as the man free as opposed to being matched up in coverage. If he starts playing with his old aggressiveness, he will make a good NFL free safety, but he was disappointing as a senior.
