Aaron Hunt

DE | (6-2, 267, 4.86) | Texas Tech
By Pro Football Weekly

Notes: High school tight end and defensive end. Graduated third in a class of 450. Redshirted in 1998. Shared time at defensive end in '99 before getting starting job in 2000. Associated Press All-Big 12 and coaches' second-team All-Big 12 in '01. Plays both left and right end. Had 36 tackles and five sacks in '99; 71 tackles and eight sacks in 2000; and 85 stops and 12 sacks in '01. Was third on the team with 108 tackles, 19 tackles for loss and nine sacks in '02. Also had a forced fumble and blocked a kick. Graduated as Texas Tech's career sack leader.

Positives: Good size and movement skills, and OK change of direction. Good chase-and- pursuit player who gives good effort. Improving pass rusher who can move laterally. Durable. Can counter and close on the quarterback. Has a quick first step and closing burst. Gets bigger, stronger and better every year.

Negatives: Lacks great size, lower-body strength, technique and block recognition. Inconsistent off the ball. Runs around blocks. Questionable taking on and shedding. Lacks pass-rush moves and anchor. Does not use his hands well. Jumps and tries to outquick blockers. Lacks functional football strength. Weak at the point of attack and is not a run-down player.

Summary: Speedy, edge-type rusher who will be drafted on Day Two but is not a paper prospect.
