Andrew Williams

DE | (6-2, 263, 4.61) | Miami (FL)
By Pro Football Weekly

Notes: Starting defensive end at Hinds Junior College (Miss.) in 1999 and 2000. Had 73 stops and 11 sacks in '99 and 93-20 in 2000. Started when healthy at Miami in '01 and had 31 tackles, four tackles for loss and two sacks. Missed three games with a knee injury. Was set back in the spring of '02, when he dislocated his kneecap. Returned to action in '02 regular season and had 36-9-4 and three forced fumbles. Had two tackles, including one for a loss in the Fiesta Bowl.

Positives: An outstanding athlete who can bend his knees and play with leverage. He has good movement skills, can change directions and shows a burst of speed to close. Goes from stance to full speed quickly. Can compensate for lack of size when he bends his knees and sinks his hips. Has Miami swagger.

Negatives: He lacks pass-rush technique and also needs work on playing the run. He is slightly undersized. Is not durable. Overly muscular and somewhat stiff. Lacks enough experience. Is far better against the pass. Must learn to use his hands better. Lacks great flexibility and balance.

Summary: Will be drafted on physical skills alone, but he has a chance to contribute on a team that will spend time polishing his flaws.
