Fred Barr

LB | (6-0, 242, 4.85) | Iowa
By Pro Football Weekly

Notes: Had 74 tackles as a true freshman in 1999, when he started the final six games. Also started six times in 2000, when he posted 72 tackles, three passes broken up and an interception. Started every game at weak-side linebacker in '01 and had 109-4-0. Moved to middle linebacker in '02 and led team with 109 tackles, including 10 tackles for loss.

Positives: Tough, nasty and physical player who likes to hit. Is an accountable worker with a killer instinct. Has improved every year and is still getting better.

Negatives: Average size and speed. Will overreact at times due to his aggressive nature. Bites on play-action and misdirection almost without fail. Has average sideline-to-sideline speed.

Summary: Should be able to do a good job on special teams, which could get him a chance in the right system after his first season.
