QB | (6-3, 230, 4.8) | John Carroll
By Pro Football WeeklyNotes: Was used at wide receiver in high school because his school's quarterback was Louisville's Dave Ragone. Moved to the QB position, his natural position, at John Carroll. Completed 118-of-217 passes for 1,736 yards, 13 touchdowns and six interceptions, and rushed 57 times for 66 yards and one touchdown as a freshman in 1999. Numbers improved to 216-367-3,155-31-4 and 65-46-3 in 2000. Completed 200-328-2,783-19-9 and rushed 86-62-7 in '01. All-Ohio Athletic Conference quarterback in 2000 and '01. Started every game and was named a Division III second-team All-American in '02, completing 207-346-2,671-26-6.Positives: Team captain. Big, athletic quarterback with large hands and a big wingspan. Leader and very hard worker in the weight room and on the field. Very tough and smart.Negatives: Extremely raw and not technically sound. Often uses a baseball pitcher's delivery, which slows everything down. Arth is not nearly as accurate as his statistics would indicate, and he will aim the ball at times. Is very inconsistent with his throwing mechanics and at times does not follow through. Runs well but is not a nifty scrambler. Played in Division III, which is just a cut above club football in most instances. Summary: A big fish in a small pond who has a lot to learn and probably would benefit immensely from a couple of years of Arena and NFL Europe football.* Player biographies are provided by Pro Football Weekly.
