Juston Wood

QB | (6-0, 207, 4.83) | Portland State
By Pro Football Weekly

Notes: Redshirted in 1998. Backed up Jimmy Blanchard in '99 and 2000 and took over as the starter in '01. Won All-Big Sky honors in his first year as a starter, completing 218-of-366 passes for 3,200 yards, 23 touchdowns and five picks after having thrown just 34 passes in the previous three years (16-28-176-1-0 in '99 and 4-6-66-0-1 in 2000). Completed 176-324-2,211-13-14 in '02 and rushed 63 times for 19 net yards and one touchdown.

Positives: Good short accuracy. Throws a tight spiral. Above-adequate arm with an over-the-top delivery. Agile in the pocket. Good pocket presence. Captain and fine leader with good intangibles. Good athletic ability, quickness, agility, balance and mobility. Is really smart on and off the field, and is a tough gym rat. Is the son of a coach and does extra work. Very smart and productive Division I-AA quarterback. Could develop into a prospect if he continues to improve.

Negatives: Does not have good size. Not sudden or explosive in movement or arm. Puts too much arc on some deep balls. Does not have a strong arm 55-yard type. Has tendinitis in his knee. Has small hands, is just a shade taller than six feet and does not have a big arm.

Summary: Lack of height and big arm are his greatest drawbacks.
