RB | (5-10, 211, 4.65) | Florida State
By Pro Football WeeklyNotes: High school All-American who carried 267 times for 2,536 yards and 33 touchdowns and caught 20 passes for 268 yards and eight touchdowns as a senior. Carried 29-111-0, caught 5-34-0 and returned two kickoffs for 43 yards in 1999 at Florida State. Spent more time at wide receiver than halfback in 2000 and carried 7-70-0, caught 7-135-1 and returned 18 punts for 190 yards. Started all but one game and split time in '01. Carried 98-438-3, caught 26-262-1 and returned seven punts for 65 yards. Backed up Greg Jones in '02, and when Jones got hurt later in the year, Maddox injured his ankle and could start only two of the final four regular-season games. Carried 106-623-4 and caught 23-197-1.Positives: Fine all-around athlete. Darting-type runner with good run skills and quick lateral movements. Catches the ball well and can return punts and kickoffs. Looked like a big-time back in the Wake Forest game in '02. Negatives: Is not very big, durable or fast and lacks play strength. Rarely breaks a tackle with his legs when he is hit low and does not run with any power inside. Drops too many passes because he is looking to run before he catches the ball. Lacks ball security. Has small hands and will fumble.Summary: Is a third-down back, slot receiver and punt returner who would fit best on a team that uses a sprint-draw type of offense. Does his best running in the open field.* Player biographies are provided by Pro Football Weekly.
