Samuel "chase" Harp

TE | (6-3, 247, 4.9) | Kentucky
By Pro Football Weekly

Notes: High school quarterback who redshirted as a quarterback in 1998. Moved to tight end in '99 and caught one pass for 12 yards in two games before a stress fracture in his thigh bone ended his season. Made one start and caught 11-134 in seven total games in 2000, when he missed four games, the first two with a sprained ankle and the last two with a fractured leg. Came back to catch 22-251 with two touchdowns in '01, although he started just one game. Played in every game and caught 11-86-3 in '02.

Positives: Natural receiver who is quick to separate and get deep and generally adjusts to and catches the ball well. Quick off the line and into his routes, which coupled with lateral quickness makes him hard to jam. Willing to block. Has good potential as a pass-catching tight end or H-back. Has the feet to block downfield. Is a very good worker and high-effort player.

Negatives: Lacks the power and bubble butt to be an effective in-line blocker. Is not durable. Experience is needed because he is still new to the position. Doesn't have bulk and lower-body strength.

Summary: Will be an H-back type on the next level if he can stay healthy, but not a draftable prospect.
