SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) _ Jamie Storr stopped 22 shots and barely missed his second straight exhibition shutout as the Los Angeles Kings beat the San Jose Sharks 2-1 on Friday night.

Los Angeles, which shut out Phoenix 2-0 on Tuesday, hadn't allowed a goal in more than seven periods until Stephane Matteau's rebound goal with 59.3 seconds left.

Storr has stopped 58 of 60 shots in his last three appearances for the Kings, who won for the fourth time in five exhibition games.

The Sharks, missing team captain and leading scorer Owen Nolan, finished the preseason with four straight losses, scoring just once in each defeat. Nolan is unsigned and still recovering from hernia surgery.

Nelson Emerson scored at 12:23 of the first period when Jason Blake passed to him for an easy one-timer past Steve Shields, who stopped 25 shots in his first full game since ending his holdout.

Bryan Smolinski got the Kings' second goal early in the third period on a wide rebound of Lubomir Visnovsky's slap shot shortly after a Kings power play ended.

Right wing Ziggy Palffy was a scratch for the Kings, who finish their preseason schedule Saturday night in Las Vegas against the Avalanche.
