Burke says coach Wilson will be on Team USA's radar for 2010 Games

October, 21, 2008
Ducks GM Brian Burke, Team USA's GM for 2010, confirmed today that Leafs coach Ron Wilson is on his radar for Olympic duty behind the bench.

"He's a hell of a coach," said Burke. "He's a candidate for the U.S. Olympic team for sure."

Ducks captain Scott Niedermayer, meanwhile, will once again wrestle with his playing future next summer and the 2010 Olympics are part of that decision.

"I hadn't thought a lot about it and then when I told Brian that I would play this year, he kind of mentioned it," Niedermayer said Tuesday. "Since then, I know it's going to be an issue that I'll have to deal with. Unfortunately, I've only been able to play in one [Olympics] and it was a great experience. Obviously playing at home would be a real great memory for sure. But there's a lot of other things I'll consider."

My bet? He comes back for one more NHL season and plays for Canada in the Olympics.
