Wild taking their time with GM search

May, 3, 2009

DETROIT -- A quick little update on the Minnesota Wild's search for a general manager. It seems to be heating up from what I'm told. Pittsburgh Penguins assistant GM Chuck Fletcher and hockey broadcaster Pierre McGuire are among those in the mix. Interviews could start as early as this week.

I was also told the Wild and Mike O'Connell touched base over the weekend, but Minnesota has decided not to interview the former Bruins GM. Also believed to be on the short list for the job is Nashville Predators assistant GM Paul Fenton and Anaheim Ducks assistant GM David McNab.

This is a huge hire in a great hockey market. Owner Craig Leipold is proceeding with care. Stay tuned.
