Canucks to fire John Tortorella

The Vancouver Canucks will fire coach John Tortorella on Thursday, TSN reported late Wednesday night.

Tortorella is in the first year of a five-year deal after replacing the fired Alain Vigneault, the winningest coach in franchise history.

The Canucks went 36-35-11 this season and finished fifth in the Pacific Division, missing the playoffs. The team was hit by injuries and faced additional adversity when Tortorella was suspended for 15 days.
