Isles pick up Osgood in waiver draft

New York Islanders GM Mike Milbury continues to dramatically upgrade a team that hasn't made the playoffs in seven seasons. With the first pick in Friday's waiver draft, the Islanders claimed goalie Chris Osgood, who was left unprotected by the Detroit Red Wings.

To make room for Osgood, the Islanders then left goalie Garth Snow unprotected but no team claimed Snow.
